Flights. QantasLink and Jetstar offer flights to Hervey Bay from Sydney and Melbourne, while Qantas has direct flights from Brisbane.
A road trip with mates might be a more fun alternative than flying.

Total cost is $1,000. A $100 deposit is required to reserve your place.
We require the balance of $900 to be paid by mid-November 2025.
-
With the right gear a bit of rain might be just what is needed to make the trip even more memorable!
If we deem the forecast is for unsafe weather conditions (eg. bushfires or cyclones) then the trip will be postponed.
We suggest booking flexible flights or purchasing travel insurance for this unlikely scenario.

We’ll be staying at Dilli Village.
This is run by the University of the Sunshine Coast and has different accommodation options available.
You can share one of our tents on a supplied self-inflating mattress and BYO sleeping bag.
OR
Spend $240 extra to stay in a bunkroom with all linen provided. Each bunkroom has 2 single beds, so consider sharing with a friend and splitting the cost.

Self contained cabins have internally accessed bathrooms, whereas the bunkrooms and tents use the shared modern shower and toilet blocks.
Composting toilets are readily available throughout the island.
Warm showers are available at Dilli but you can expect to swim in freshwater lakes every day.

No. We’re genuinely delighted to welcome all people, regardless of their faith.
Our team are all Christians and carefully craft the input and delivery to avoid ostracizing or prompting a sense of guilt in someone who doesn’t have a Christian faith.

Youthworks team members Steve Carlisle (Year 13 Christian gap year) and Sam Hudson (Getaways) will be leading the trip.
They’ll be supported by men and women volunteers from various churches.
Leaders will have verified Working with Children Checks and Safe Ministry Training.
While we recognise that some school leavers will be 18 years old, leaders will conduct themselves in-line with child-safe practices regardless of the age of school leavers.
