About SRE Conference 2025

Come and join over 1,000 other primary and high school SRE teachers and helpers as we are encouraged from God’s word and equipped for the year ahead. Whether you’re new to SRE or have been teaching for many years, SRE Conference is a great way to start the year!

This year’s event will be run at eight venues over two days.

Your Bible speaker in 2025 is Rev Nigel Fortescue, the Rector of Christ Church St Ives. Nigel is a passionate advocate for SRE and is greatly looking forward to spurring you on in your SRE endeavours at the start of 2025 by pointing us to Our Glorious King who is full of grace and truth. He will be livestreamed from Barneys Broadway on Tuesday and St Paul’s Castle Hill on Saturday.

Training workshops in 2025.

Each venue will host a main series of three 40 minute training workshops suitable for both primary and high school SRE and will have specific application and examples to both settings. These are being prepared around the theme of “Growing with the King of Glory”. This will be the default workshop option at all venues and in some venues the only option available. Some venues will provide SRE Accreditation Module 1 as an alternative workshop.
Please check the list of venues carefully for which locations will be providing these alternative workshop options before you purchase your ticket. If you need to transfer your ticket to a different venue, we will return your order for store credit and you can purchase the right ticket with a coupon code if still available.

Livestream Hubs for other Christian SRE providers

We are again providing livestream access to other approved SRE providers to host their own livestream hubs.** If you are a coordinator from another approved SRE provider looking to host a livestream hub for a group of SRE teachers please complete this online expression of interest form to get the information you need. If you need to, you can follow up with an email to email enquiries@iccoreis.asn.au.

Rev Nigel Fortescue

Nigel is the Senior Minister at Christ Church St Ives. He is married to Nicky and they have four adult children, a dog, and a cat. Nigel truly believes that Jesus rose from the dead and that this news is life-changing and worth exploring. He also has a passion for gardening, reading and running.

Training Workshops

2025 SRE Training Workshops - Growing with the King of Glory
Available at all venues

Workshop 1 - Remembering the King’s Words

Remembering scriptures that will last a lifetime. We'll explore the why and how of helping young people commit passages from the Bible to memory in SRE and in doing so set them up for a lifetime of having the word of God dwell within them. You will gain strategies for children in kindergarten through to high school that you can use in your SRE classes.

Workshop 2 - Questioning the King

Children and youth in SRE often ask brilliant but tricky questions. In this workshop you will discover the principles of if, when, where and how to answer these questions. You will gain confidence as we share tricky questions and workshop helpful answers together.

Workshop 3 - Relating to the King

Prayer is a vital part of SRE. We will explore a range of different approaches to prayer in the classroom and beyond. You will gain some fresh ideas to try with your students in the new year.

SRE Accreditation — Module 1 (for primary & high school) (2 hours)
Only available on Tuesday at Broadway & Dapto, and on Saturday at Castle Hill & Springwood.

This module considers how biblical principles shape the way SRE is taught. The module introduces the big picture of teaching SRE through five contexts: the biblical, legislative, school, family and church context.

  • If you purchase the wrong ticket, please inform our office in writing via ministrysupport@youthworks.net.

    We will return you order for store credit which you can use to purchase the correct ticket.

    Once we've processed your requeest you will receive an email via our ticket partners with a coupon code which you can use to purchase the correct ticket.

  • We will be streaming the opening session with the bible talk from Barneys on Tuesday and Castle Hill on Saturday to all other venues on those days. The rest of the conference will be run by people at each venue.

    We will be providing a livestream of the whole of both days for other approved providers and regional areas but not directly to individuals. If you are another approved provider and interested in accessing our online stream to run your own livestream hub then please email enquiries@iccoreis.asn.au.

    If you are unable to attend either day a recording of the main training workshop series will be made available for purchase after the event as one option for you to complete your annual SRE development training.

  • Concession tickets are available for the following SRE teachers or helpers to attend the SRE Conference:

    • Apprentices and trainees

    • Pensioners

    • Seniors

    • Tertiary and TAFE students

    • Asylum seekers

    • Centrelink customers

    • Veterans, war widows and widowers.

  • If you want to bring your own food and drink on the day for whatever reason, you can enter the discount code 'NOFOOD2025' on the first page of the ticketing page and you will receive $10 off your order.

    Please then be sure to provide your own food on the day and not eat the food provided.

  • Youthworks is a COVID safe organisation. As such, in the event SRE Conference is cancelled because of NSW Government COVID restrictions, Youthworks will refund your ticket price in full (less the $2 third party booking fee). If any registered individual is unable to attend due to COVID or other sickness, a recording will be provided for them to view after the conference so they can complete their annual training requirement.

    For cancellations within the last 14 days before the event or on the day, we will provide a link to the recording of the day within 24 hours of the event finishing.
